- Description
- July 5, 1922 (Wednesday) P.3 The C.B.A. of Victoria made an announcement on June 27 that Ambassador Chau and Lim had asked for the opinions of the Chinese about the commercial agreement and "immigration law that were to be set up. Having discussed with the representatives of the Chinese Businessmen's Association and |vV\ , a number of issues were raised. For example, what amendments should be made to the law that regulated the commerical import and export in Canada?; how much tax should be imposed on Canadian products importing into China?; what treatments should the Chinese immigrants, students and merchants receive in Canada?; and how the Canadians should be treated when they went to China? It was hoped that the Chinese could give their opinions and suggestions to the headquarter not later than July 15. The co-operation of the people was needed in order to establish a law that could benefit the Chinese community in Canada.
