June 29, 1922 (Thursday) P.2 (1) Ambassador Chau would come to Vancouver in September to ask for the opinion and suggestion of the Chinese with regard to the commercial agreement and immigration laws that were to be set by the Chinese and the Canadian governments in the near future. It was essential to obtain the consent and suggestions from the overseas Chinese community before the final decision on the content of the agreements was made. P.2 (2) There was the suggestion of setting up the Overseas Chinese External 4n ^a to discuss the commercial agreement and immigration law that were to be set up by the Chinese and the Canadian governments in the near future. It was hoped that the opinions of the Chinese at large could be collected and discussed and that with the co-operation of the Chinese external affairs minister in Canada, the rights of the Chinese could be protected. The initiators requested the C.B.A. to hold a general meeting to discuss the establishment of such an association. The initiators were: "V\- "tL V?O ' r- ^A- A~- - =£ ' 1L. ,S'i P.3 (2) ;ig s=, ,At who had been sentenced to death appealed to the court. (3) 2 Chinese were arrested for keeping drugs. (4) News from ^ ^K| ^ (Chilliwack ?). A Chinese was killed by a white in a car crash. The driver attempted to hit and run. However, a number of persons witnessed the crash and the case was brought to court. The judge even attempted to defend the driver. The Chinese Ambassador was requested to protest against such injustice.
