September 17 P. 2 1) Immigration - a Chinese Wong Ling Quo was to be deported due to disqualifying status. When his train reached , he took refuge. Unfortunately, he was recaptured by the immigration officer. He was then detained at the Van. Office waiting to be deported. P.3 2) Chinese Shingle Workers Union of Canada - the shingle factories decided to reduce the wage enen though all the shingle factories were in good business. The workers thus went on strike on Sept. 16 and the Chinese union would hold a meeting to discuss the issue. 3) A white woman had opened a religious school in 627 Keefer. She knew Chinese and taught English, French, paino and handicrafts. She once helped in the Chinese hospital in Montreal. 4) White football Club - held a general convention. The Chinese student Athletic Club was sending its football team to attend. Due to the heavy expenses, the club would start a fund drive and it was hoped that the Chinese community would help. 5) News - the CKT and the Neighbourhood Association held a to commemorate July festival. 6) News from New Westminster - the United Farmer's Association in Ontario decided to give 30 top quality cows to a Missionaries Assoc. in S. China. They wanted to ask for free transportation from the government railway and a ship co. However their decision was repudiated by the cattle breeders along the Fraser Valley.
