- July 20 P.3 1) Discrimination v s. Chinese workers: news from South Vancouver: The Army & Navy Veteran Assoc. had sent reps, to investigate the RCMP base which hired Chinese cooks. The investigators reported that the base had fired 6 Chinese and would replace them with veterans soon. 2) Van. Sun reported a letter by a whiteman who stated E. Asian and unemployment issues were the crises in Vancouver. The writer was in favour of restricting buying and renting of land by E. Asians; he was particularly against Chinese groceries which still were open after business hours. 3) Hoysun Assoc. Victoria - a farewell party was held for the president who returned back to China to supervise the school establishment. 4) CKT H.Q. - held a farewell party for who would assist the building of the 5-ancestor temple for CKT. 5) Sun Ning Railway Co. - the President announced on August 1 that the election of the 4 term executive would be held in Deeember. Those who owned $1000 worth of shares were qualified to be elected and those who had $100 were qualified to vote. 6) 435 passengers onboard Blue Tunnel Ship for the journey back to China praised the good service and efficiency of the company. 7) CKT Cumberland - a member pronounced his loyalty to the CKT. He wanted to clear the rumour that he had joined the Kuomingtang.
