- Description
- July 2 P.2 1) Discrimination v.s. Chinese - the Veteran's Association sent a rep. to consult an army base requesting them to fire Chinese Workers. However, the response was in favour of Chinese whom the base officers felt to be hardworking and only demanded low pay. P.3 2) Discrimination - news - the farmer's United Association tele- gramed Ottawa to complain about the problem of E. Asian immigration, especially Japanese farmers who held strong position along the Fraser Valley. Even though there was an intention to limit the entry of Japanese immigrants to 200 annually, Japan refused such a proposal. It was hoped that the government would take measures against E. Asian Immigration. They demanded that each province should have authority to deal with immigration problems. 3) Immigration against Chinese eggs - Ever since "labelling law" on Chinese eggs ( ) was enforced, the Chinese eggs market was on decline. Many shops which used Chinese eggs before had stopped purchasing them. 4) CKT H.Q. announced on July 1 that the 3 reps, to the San Francisco convention had received good treatment, and thus, all the Canadian freemason members would like to thank the H.Q. in San Francisco for its generousity. 5) CKT Calgary - announced on Jyly 2 that who represented CKT Calgary at the convention thanked the CKT & Dart Coon Club in Van. and Vic. for giving him good treatment. P.9 6) Hoysun Association Victoria - the 28th term donation. Total funds - $227,983.
