Description: June 23 P. 2 1) Discrimination vs. Chinese eggs. - there was a suggestion to establish a Trans- Canada or B.C. Domestic Animal Protection Association to regulate theimport tax of all Chnese eggs, and to enforce the 'labelling1 regulation. 2) Flyers were being distributed by Japanese to fight for a better Anglo-Japanese treaty, e.g. equality, national franchise, etc. P.3 3) In defense of Chinese Workers - the Mayor received a notice from a farmer who stated that he had gotten vacancies from white farm workers. However the whites refused due to the low payment, and Indian workers were not as good as Chinese ones. 4)The Veteran's Association wanted to replace E. Asian workers with white workers. They demanded all goods from Asians to bear labels. 5) News from New Westminster - discrimination v.s. E. Asians. The Veteran Assoc. held a meeting. They demanded the goverment to investigate the problems created by E. Asians. P.3 6) A Chinese opium smuggler was fined $1000 or 6 months imprisonment. 7) Kai-yap members in were enthusiastic in supporting the founding of the ming Poo. $400 share-money was raised from the 10-20 members in the district. News from Moose Jaw - fund raising agents were elected to door-to-door fund drive. Over $1000 raised.
