May 23 Dart Coon Club Branch Van. - gave a farewell party to a group of members, p.3 2) The Veteran's Association held a meeting to discuss excluding Chinese or E. Asians from entering Canada. 6 investigators were elected to collect general E. information. They demanded that only English speaking 'Asians were allowed to enter Canada, and within certain years of residency, immigrants were to become citizens otherwise they might be deported. 3) Kai-Ping members would like to set up a newspaper. A meeting had been held to set up the objectives. During the meeting, $1300 was raised..Now total funds raised were $2,000. 4) Big Social Event - the scholars and poets in Vancouver had once held a sentence making competition. The outcome was satisfactory and a banquet was then held for famous scholars in both Van. and Victoria. There were over 100 participants There was singing, poetry reading and playing of musical instruments. It was reported that the banquet was the 1st time ever held in Van. 5) Hoysun Assocition - meeting had been held to set up the final ob jective or constitution. Flyers would be distributed soon. Enthusiastic members like Foon Sien and others all made speeches during the meeting. 6) Van. Sun - an article which attacked Chinese businessmen who worked overtime, thus stealing business from the white merchants. The federal government is going to ban or prohibit the import of Chinese eggs. CKT H.Q. in San Francisco and Victo ria gave a report on donations.
