May 19 P.2 1) It was reported that the farmers who were in egg marketing had already sent an appeal to the Treasury Dept. demanding increases in import taxes on all Chinese eggs. 12c/dozen, and 4.5<? per pound of egg products. 2) The City Council also received an appeal to investigate theproblem of influx of Chinese eggs. A meeting was held to discuss theproblem and thepublic health department was requested to investigate and give a report on the problem of Chinese egg.s 3) Dr. gave a speech about evil drug at the meeting of the He stressed that severe punishment was needed for drug offenders. He also said that Van. was the No. 1 City in Canada with drug problems. He suggested that gov't. inspector should station in drug stores to prevent, check and register the sale of any small amount of evil drugs. He said that most drug addicts were between ages of 20-30, and he though that there was a close relationship between enemployment and drug problems. y P.3 4) Over 900 Chinese workers were going to Cuba and Mexico work. The were in transit in Vancouver. 5) Cheng Wing Yeung H.Q. Van. - made an announcement to ask for deposits and also share money for the members. Executives were: Cheng ; president; 6) CKT H.Q. - name list for donors from cities like Vernon, Kelowna, etc. 7) A Mah clan member thanked his friends for subsidizing his ship fare back to China. 8) CKT Chilliwack - executive list; P.7 9-) Hoysun Association Vic. - 2nd school establishment Cttee - 26th term donation. Dontions came in thousands. 500 plants were sent back for planting in the garden.
