April 30 P.2 1) Van. M.P. suggested to exclude all E. Asians. Van. South MLA also suggested that E. Asians should not be allowed to assimilate with the whites even .though they were good in pioneer work. The Canadian Legion's president also suggested to exclude E. Asians. P2-3 2) Fund raising for famine relief - London, Ontario: the Chinese Youth Association supported the fund drive by donating $80. P.3 3) The Kai-Yap members would like to set up a newspaper to encourage educational development. Money was raised for the set up. 4) Exclusion: Ottawa: Van. MP held a discussion with the Cabinet ministers about E, Asian immigration problems. The points they discussed were (1) Japanese & Chinese always broke the law; (Especially Chinese); (2) to request the federal government to allow individual provincial legislature to set up regulations prohibiting E. Asians from renting and buying land or houses. (3) due to the increasing drug offences, more severe punishment should be met.
