April 25 P.2 1) The Provincial Assessor told the Chinese Times that there were still many Chinese who had not filled in the tax returns of 1919. The deadline for 1919 returns was last Auust, now the deadline was extended to the end of April 1921. If the Chinese were still stubborn and refused to hand in returns, they would be severely punished. P.2-3 2) The English newspaper (Columnist) , stated that it received a message from an MP named , stating that the immigration office in Ottawa had realized that the department had mistakenly let in many Chinese using illegal status. The immigration dept. head in Van. was attacked by the new§paper for inefficiency. The dept. head was warned so that he would not rest so much responsibility on the Chinese interpreter (to be continued). P.3 3) CKT Van. had celebrated the Day April 21. Speeches were made. 4) Local Improvement Cttee ( ) had held speech day at CBA because a c the white community had constantly derogated the Chinese ' the root of all drug evil. Consul General Yip and some Chinese ministers were invited to make speeches. (The president of the committee was Mr. ). 5) CKT H.Q. admitted 5 new members on April 22, and on April 23, a celebration was held to pay respects to . The president and other senior members made speeches. 6) CKT Nanaimo - admitted members on April 23 and celebrated day on April 24. The members were requested to pay annual donationsto the H.Q. 7) sent a letter to the fund raising association for famine relief in Victoria. Thanked the enthusiasm of the fund drive in Canada and the $10,000 (Chinese currency) that had been remitted back to China. 8) CKT H.Q. - helped to recruit more shareholders for the association in Regina which had recently bought a building. Shareholders came from Duncan, Princeton, Vernon, Kelowna, Revelstoke, Nelson and Trail.
