April 22 P.2 1) The Chinese Consulate in Van. announced that regulations set up by the Education Dept. in China about Students going back to study. 2) Discrimination Richmond news; some of the residents in Richmond were scared that Chinese and Japanese would monopolize the fertile soil in the area. They held a meeting and distributed flyers to discourage selling land to them. They hoped that in the next city council election, the city would discuss this. 3) A Chinese was arrested for possession of evil drugs and put in prison for 1 year and given a $1000 fine. P.3 1)Victoria news - when the YWCA was holding a bazaar to raise funds for a new building, the Chinese community also took part in it. Lim Lai Moo ( ) was coordinator for the Chinese booth in the bazaar. 2) CKT H.Q. Reading Room - the Agricultural and Commercial Departments had ordered CKT H.Q. Reading Room to elect a rep. to return to Peking as MP Candidate. A meeting was held on April 20 and they chose who was already an MP in China as their rep. An official letter would be sent to them soon. 3)Victoria news - liquor control regulations were enforced in Vancouver and Victoria. Liquor stores would be established in Chinatowns so that Chinese could buy liquor from the stores instead of going to the Chinese blackm arket. 4)CKT Winnipeg: admission of new members on April 16.
