Description: April 21 P.2 1) A public meeting was held with reps, from city council and various organizations: they all decided to ban all drugs. Now there were 320 prisoners in the , out of whom 110 were drug offenders. The representataves in the meeting suggested to administer severe punishment on the drug offenders. A 2nd meeting would he held on April 27 to discuss this issue. 2) Local Improvement Ass'n ( ): the Chinese community set up a local Improvement Ass'n and a meeting was hid on April 20th. 3) 3 Chinese were arrested for drug offenses. One was put in prison for 1 year in addition to $1000 fine; the other was given 1 year sentence and the third was an opium smoker who was fined $50, or 3 months in jail. 4) A whiteman was charged with robbery. Two Chinese asserted that he robbed them at Shanghai Alley. The judge released him when he said that he was innocent. The judge even asked him to get away from the dangerous Chinese community. P.3 5) CKT Leun Ying Reading Room Cumberland: supported the fund drive for famine relief. $200 Chinese currency was sent back to Peking. 6) CKT Trail - the Chinese Secretary had returned to China, and his post was replaced by . A name list of those who donated worship fees was posted.
