- April 11 P.2 1) previously printed an article which exposed howChinese gained entry into Canada ilegally. Now the newspaper suggested that citizens should elect a committee to investigate the Chinese immigration problems as well as the drug markets. The paper also asserted that the Chinese interpreter in the im- migration office was inefficient and might be connected with the drug market. 2) The Unemployed Workers went out for a demonstration. Some made speeches about excluding all non-white immigrants, and also prohibited liners calling on Van. from hiring Japanese and Chinese. However such provoca-.tive speeches were not welcomed by many demonstrators. P2-3 2) Fund raising Victoria - About $10,000 was raised and remitted to China for famine relief. The women in Victoria also suggested to hold a bazaar. Men and women executives were chosen. Handicrafts were made for a two night-bazaar held at CKT on April 15 and 16. The white community was enthusiastic too. Some donated towels, candies, or even coals. P.3 4) CKT H.Q. Reading Room - staff acceptance ceremony would be held on April 10. 5) CKT H.Q. - name list of members who donated annual donations. Donations came from Winnipeg, Revel stoke and etc. 6) CBA - New Westminster; executive list; President ; vice.
