April 5 Hoysun Ning Young Railway Co. sent a letter to the Times and stated the usefulness of the railroad. It would however like to extend a branch and outside financial help was needed. Report on an article by abour immigration problems - the immigration officer in charge of Chinese immigrants was being attacked for inefficiency. They suspected that immigration was closely related to drug racketeering. The Chinese interpreter was also suspected of receiving bribes and allowing the smugglers to get into Canada. Chinatown Van. - the City Council encouraged a clean-up campaign in Chinatown; many houses were asked to be repainted. A few days ago, some aldermen went on a tour in Chinatown and decided a few houses had to be pulled down. Out of 280 Chinese landlords, 278 were asked to repaint their homes or do some rehabil- itation. The Police reported that in the month of March, they arrested 387 Chinese gamblers, and 78 drug addicts. Chinese Reform Party Winnipeg_ celebrated the 5th anniversary on March 27. Greetings and telegrams from associationsin other places were read. There was a suggestion to develop realty for the associaton.
