- March 16 p.2 1) 5 Chinese opium smokers were arrested. One was bailed out at $200, other at $25. p.3 2) The 5 Chinese who were arrested for smuggling opium onboard the liner Czarina was tried. 4 were fined $1000 plus court fees or 3 months in prison. The 5th one and the longshoreman were subject to further trial. 3) The Chinese Embassy in Ottawa gave financial account of money remitted to China. 4) CKT Calgary - new members were admitted. 5) of Victoria was always regarded as a benevolent character. In order to support the fund drive, he held a tea party at his home, whereby Consul Gen- eral Yip and many VIP's were invited. Total funds were over $300. 6) The sentence matching competition was out.
