February 16 P.2 1) Fund raising for famine relief through bazaar: total fund raised was over $1000. 2) , a Hui-yap member who owned the Peking restaurant was willing to donate all the income he collected from lunch business on Feb. 18, noon to 3 p.m. for relief fund. 3) The police received a call that there was a Tong war in Chinatown, and when they arrived at Sing Ping Theatre, they discovered that there was no sign of fighting exeept that there were a few hundred Chinese gathering in front of the theatre. They saw that an opera performance was put on with no audience. Later they were told that the owner of the theatre refused the general request to hand the theatre for a fund raising performance, thus the audience would like to boycott the owner and refuse to enter the theatre. 4) Japanese Queen arrived in Van. Onboard there were 570 Chinese. 5) Fund raising for famine relief through a baaaar - announced on Feb. 14 a name list of donors for the bazaar. 6) CBA - the new executive already started their services on Jan. 26th. Corr- esponding addresses were at Lee Yuen and Gin Lee Yuen.
