February 3 P.2 1) Van. Sun reported an article that the Veteran Association was against the fund raising for famine relief in China. The writer asserted that salvation should begiven to the Veterans first. The ministers who started the fund drive were wrong because they should attend to immediate problems. (The ministers had requested the govt. to ship wheat back to China for relief work.) The writer attacked the minister, who praised a white man of donating $10 during the public fund raising day, because that generaus white man might be an illegal drug seller. 3) a govt. official was to investigate the States' urban affairs and the education system. He was on-board the ship with of CKT. He was warmly welcomed by the clan association. 4) CKT Van. - holding a meeting on Feb. 4 to discuss the election. P-3 5) News from Ottawa: The Agricultural Dept. head asserted that E. Asian immigration problem in B.C. was similar to that of California. He insisted that only those who were willing to assimilate into the Canadian society were admitted. He said that in B.C., most of the agricultural work was in the hands of E. Asians who did not want to be assimilated into Canadian society. They drafted much of their income back to China or their native land, thus drai(\ing the capital from Canada. He was in favour of a stricter immigration law, and refused the entry of the solidarity group.
