October 30 P.2 1) The Public Hospital held meeting to decide if Chinese female should be allowed to become practical nurses in the public hospital. The hospital was for employing Chinese females, however, an alderman was against it by stating that white females should get 1st priorities. 2) Hoysun Assoc. Van. - total donation reached $130,000(7) A meeting would be held to select delegates to send back to Hoysun district to prepare for school establishmen P.2-3 3) CKT Nelson - meeting on Oct. 17 when new members admitted. Admission ritual held by who have a lesson the Freemason glorious history. Oct. 18, Dart Chee Reading Room was opened. Speeches made by reps, and guests. P.3 4) CKT H.Q. celebrated the day, guests were invited to make speeches (Low Chiu Yin and others), 11 new members admitted. P.7 5) Western Canning Co. - expanding and it needed to recruit » share holders. The Co. intended to collected $200,000 from Canada as part of the $700,000 development. Thorn and Lam were the agents of company, constitution and history of Co. was published. Consul General Yip, CBA's president and many other Chinese leaders in Van. supported the co.
