Dctober 12 P.2 1) Asian Queen arrived with lOOOpassengers mostly going to Cuba. P.3 2) Kelowna News continued Oct. 11 P.3 - reps, stated that out of 7000 Chinese in Van., 3000 were gamblers. There were also many Chinese prostitutes who contaminated moral society. The mayor also made a speech that he had attended quite a lot of anti-Chinese conferences which led to nowhere and he himself was against anti- Chinese movement and did not expect much from this meeting. 3) Yee Fon Toy Tong - Calgary - opening ceremony was held on Oct. 3 for the spare- time Reading Room ( ). A few hundred participants at opening. 4) CBA ; Chinese community thanked Chinese Times which informed the CBA and Consul General Yip about their desperate conditions. Now they were under protection from RCMP. 5) Lee - news from Montreal - an associational building was established p.3 5) which housed and . They were planning to set up a school as well as a reading room. Ambassaddr Young and Vice Ambassador Chiu were also invited to the opening ceremony. There were also reps, from Wong Kong Har Tong, CBA, Chamber of Commerce and other organizations. 6) Dart Coon Club Van. - urged the members to hand in the monthly fee payment. The club would hold a preliminary election on Nov. 14, and final election on Nov. 21. Also the club would celebrate the 2nd anniversary on Dec. 5. 7) Van. CKT - would celebrate day on Oct. 19, and on Oct. 23, new members would be admitted and on Oct. 24, there would be a party.
