September 30 P.I 1) Hoysun Tong Hound Lee and Clan - an article to comment on the school establishment for the clan member. - it was reported in the Vancouver Sun on Sept. 29 that a few policemen searched the society office and found quite a few stolen goods; together with 5 opium smokers. It was reported that there were still 40 chests of clothing that had not been searched. The police expected to find more stolen good On Sept. 17, there was a report that 16 Chinese were charged with storing liquor at their home, since there was a regulation allowing storage of liquor at home, the case against the Chinese was dropped. A white man was fined $500 or put into prison for 6 months due to possession of opium. 5) Hoysun Association - total donations (registered or instant) for the school was $220,000, total money collected was over $100,000. The goal was $250,000. In addition to school establishment, the association also aimed at realty development for interest. Total donations for flood relief fund was $13,000.
