May 8 P.2 1) The farmers in Van. held a meeting in the City Hall and one member, suggested they they cooperate and fight against E. Asian farmers who were expert in the agricultural field. P.2-3 2) The Van. Scholar Association - May 7 was the day whereby Japan demanded China to grant the 21 humiliating demands. The Vancouver Scholar Assoc. ( ) held a meeting to commemorate the National Humiliation Day. Many students attended the meeting. P.3 3) The Forestry Dept. ( ) announced that starting May 1, a new regul- ation would be enforced to prevent shingle and sawmill factory owners from hiring E. Asians. However, the owners were still hiring E. Asians because they were unable to recruit whites. 550 E. Asians were working in the forests.
