- January 15 1) CKT Van. - had been a merchant in Canada for over 10 years. He was a devoted Freemason and contributed a lot to the Freemason Revolution. It was rported that he would go back to China on Jan. 22; a farewell party was held in CKT. Gifts and blessings were presented to him. (gold medal). p.2 2) The Vegetable hawkers issues had still to be solved by the city council. The English newspaper reported that lawyer , the reps, of hawkers had already appealed to the Treausry committee to solve the problem. It was reported that circulars were sent out to the residents and the Chinese hawkers or merchants were still insisting on their demands. There was only one Chinese wo applied for the license. P.3 3) Wong Kong Har Tong announced on Jan.12 that a clan member was murdered in Chilliwack on Jan.7. The detailed report was on Jan. 10 P.3. The murderer had run away and the association would award $1000 to anyone who could catch the murderer and witness at the court. (P.S. out of the $1000 award, $500 was given by , who also posted his award in the English newspaper.
