July 30. Wed. P.3 There was an article to discuss the fight between 2 Chinese gamblers and 2 policemen (July 21). The 2 policemen accused those 2 Chinese of injuring them. The writer of the article criticized the police because they did not have a search warrant on the house, moreover, they seemed to be more picky and harsh on Chinese gamblers than white gamblers. Finally, the writer said that the police had perhaps stolen the gambling money from the tables and that they might even give false evidence against the Chinese in the court (+ August 4, P.3 it was reported that the 2 policemen had ordered the witnesses to leave Vancouver so that they could give false evidence.
