- Description
- June 13. Friday P.3 A Chinese student was detained and ready to be deported by the immigration office because he was found to be working instead of studying. The attorney for the boy asserted that his client had already paid the $500 head tax with consequent priority to stay. However the judge proclaimed that he could not be exempt from deportation even though he had paid the tax. A new Chinese student who was detained at the immigration office was allowed to gain entry after a thorough investigation of his background. The student also had to have a body check up before he could enter Canada. 2. A list of shareholders for the Merchants Bank of Canada.
