Description
April 30, Wednesday P.I 1. A report of the letter sent by about promoting education and commerce. P.3 2. Ambassador Yeung had argued against those laws that prohibited Chinese from employing female whites, and also the $100 license fee imposed on the Chinese hawkers. The City Council had promised to look into the cases However, the Council thought that the $100 licence fee was essential on every hawker who sold goods as expensive as those from other companies. The hawkers might earn more for they did not have to pay rent or tax as the company owners did.
