Ambassador Yeung had arrived at Vancouver planning to visit Victoria to deal with the restrictive proposal that prohibited Chinese from employing female whites. 2. News from Ottawa which explained why there was the extension of the period of absence from Canada. Due to the excessive manpower provided by the returning soldiers, the government would like to prohibit Chinese workers from coming to Canada. After the discussion between the Minister of Immigration and Ambassador Yeung, they decided to extend the period of absence so that workers who were still in China might delay their stay in China. It was reported that there were about 6,000 Chinese Canadians still staying in China. P.7 3. was accused by about 500 shingle workers as a villian who helped the managers to exploit them. was also criticized by the Chinese workers since he taught the whites the shingle technique.
