- April 8, Tues. - P.2 The Vancouver Public Health Service had sent out a team to investigate the sanitary conditions in Chinatown. Wherever they found disqualified and non- hygienic areas, they demanded modification within a limited time period. There had been already 20 places found to be dissatisfactory due to bad ventilation, poor lighting and over-lodging. The owners were asked to improve the area according to the public health regulation within 14 days, otherwise the owners would be sued (+ April 12, P.3). P.3 2. The C.B.A. (Vancouver) announced on April 8 that the C.B.A. had discussed with the Ambassador and various merchants checking against any government intention that would stop Chinese from employing female whites. It was hoped that any Chinese who were employing female whites would inform the C.B.A. before April 10 for preparation of anti-restrictive law activities. 3.
