Feb. 25, Tuesday P. 2-3 the writer for the New Republic Newspaper as well as the party leader of the Kuomintang was arrested on Feb. 23 when he arrived at Vancouver from Victoria. The reason for his arrest was that he was the leader of the Kuomintang which held radical ideology. The secretary was also arrested. They could only be bailed out at $5,000. ( was famous for his speech making. It was believed that he instigated the murder of in 1918). P.3 2. were also arrested as illegal party members. Each could be bailed out at $5,000. 3. During the meeting of the City Council in Vancouver there was a proposal to segregate all Chinese residents into one area. It was reported that many white merchants were against the dispersal of Chinese hawkers all over the city. They asked for restrictions on the Chinese. Their proposal would be discussed at the next City Council meeting.
