- November 21 '.3 1) The Ghee Kong Tong in New Westminster announced that a few years ago, the assoc- iation building was mortgaged, and presently they had to pay bak the money, otherwise the morgager would take the building. During the celebration of the 5-ancestors remembrance day, they had decided to raise funds and donation books were sent out. It was hoped the members would support the fund drive. '.6 2) The Ghee Kong Tong in announced on MOct. 30 that there had not been a correspondance adress for the Ghee Kong Tong in due to its isolated position. All news came to them from the Chinese Times. Later they learned from the paper that a law was set up in the general convention in San Francisco to have members holding meetings whether they had a Kong Tong or not. The aim was to promote more admission of members, but to be recognized as an official members, one had to pay foundation fees to the head quarter in San Francisco as well as the Ghee Kong Tong in Victoria. The Freemason enthus- iasts then held a meeting on Oct. 26, guests were invited from other cities. Speeches were made and they decided to set up a Kong Tong in Donations were given bythe guests, and they were able to raise more than $300. But they thought that to buy a building for the association was too expensive, thus they rent a place and decorate it as the official association. Executives would soon be elected to administer the affairs.
