- Description
- December 5 P.3 1) The pojice committee held a meeting to discuss the Chinese gambling situation. The chief was being questioned because there was a rumor that the police were bribed to protect the Chinese. However, the chief denied the case and said that he and his subordinates were impartial. 2) A few Chinese laundromat owners were sued for working on Sundays, but the judge dropped the charge because he thought that due to the white laundrymen's strike, the Chinese laundrymen had to clean all the dirty clothers so they were given the excuse to work on Sundays. 3) 65 Chinese gamblers were arrested. The head was fined $100. The others $25.
