- September 4 5 1) According to the English newspaper in Vancouver, the assassination of was a pre-meditated murder which concerned the Chinese political parties. It was thought it might lead to a tong war in the future. There was a rumor that the assassinator was chosen by casting lots. Another explanation to the assas- sination was that it was due to some radical cause. 2) A report by Chee Kong Tong in Victoria about the 5-ancestor celebration on Aug. 30. The banquet held on Sept. 1 with reps, from other branch associations attending to discuss and solve the associational affairs. 3) The Chee Kong Tong in New Westminster also celebrated the 5-ancestor remembrance day on Sept. 1. , the chairman announced that the Chee Kong Tong was in a great debt (up to $4000). 4 years ago, the association already mortgaged the building to a whiteman, and now they had to pay the money, As a resit, they decided to call forth a charity donation. The 40 members attending the meeting would be the initiators for the fund drive, and instantly, they were able to raise more than $300. 11 4) A name list of donors who donated for the great flood in Canton. The fund drive was initiated by the CBA in Winnipeg.
