June 20 p.1 1) It was hoped that the Chinese workers would join the Canadian Chinese Labour Union ( ) for mutual encouragement and protection. The union had recently gone through alterations and withdrawn from political involvement. The aims of the union were: to improve knowledge of workers; to improve the authority and power of workers; to withdraw from political involve- ment; to reduce capitalistic influence. This union had been set up for 2 years, and there were about 5-600 members. It was an independent party. Adress:2ll Fender St, p.3 2) Ambassador Wong announced that the address for applying for Nationality cert- ificates was 402 Fender St. Applicants would go for applications after June 22. 3) Ambassador Yeung announced on June 14 that in order to ensure most convenience in issuing the Chinese passports or nationality certificates inthe eastern provinces, there would be branch offices set up in various big cities: Toronto, CBA; Quebec - Montreal CBA; Winnipeg, CBA. Two 3-inch photos and $1 were needed. 4) The ex-minister of education and his employee were in transit in Victoria. They were given a banquet by and they would be going to the States on June 2lst. The aim of his tour in Canada and the States was to inspect the educational development situation so that he could improve China's.
