- May 27 p.3 1) 71 Chinese were arrested at Club, they were charged with vagrancy. But when they were proved to have jobs, they were released. 2) The Chee Kong Tong in Chilliwack had helped to raise funds for a poor Chinese who was too desolate to pay his medical fee and tickets for returning to China. Donation books were sent out to various branches and a total of $280 raised for the old man. 2) was going to establish a Merchants Bank of Canada in Vancouver. ( was a representative of the Merchants bank of Hong Kong.) He had begun to recruit shareholders. ($5/share.
