April 20 P.2 1) The CBA announced on April 19 that those who had dug up the bones of the ancestors had to dry them between the end of April and beginning of May. Bones had to be put into boxes immediately after the drying. The City Co uncil had already set up a canvas enclosure so the bones would not endanger the hygeine of the vicinity. It was hoped that the associations would obey the announcement. In addition, they had to report to the CBA the day they would start working so that they could inform the Public Health Service. P.2 2) Ambassador Yeung announced on April 18 that the minister of the agirculture and commerce department, who was also the head of the election bureau in China had announced the amended regulation for election of congressmen to congress was posted on Feb. 17: Overseas Chinese were qualified to xa&e if they had more than one million (dollars?) worth of property. Ambassador Yeung was responsible to investigate the background of the candidates and to issue identification cards if they were qualified. The names of the candidates had to be given to election bureau by May 10. P.3 3) News from Regina: the chief of Public Health Service in Saskatchewan was an admirer of Chinese food; when he was in , he went to a Chinese restaurant for a meal. But when he discovered that the kitchen was very non- hygeniec and dirty, he decided to set up a 15-man investigation team to examine sanitary conditions of every restaurant and laundromat (both Chinese and white). He said that if they were found to be under sanitary standards, the business license would be permanently cancelled.
