- March 28 P.3 1) The 3 representatives of the Chee Kong H.Q. in Victoria had started their trip to the general convention on April 1st in San Francisco. They took a steamer to Seattle on March 26 and was warmly welcomed. They would be going to San Francisco by car. 2) The Chinese workers in the sawmills in Victoria went on strike, hoping to fight for equality with the white workers. The Chinese ^usually worked for 10 hours/day. A few days ago, they went on strike, asking for a shorter working day, 8 hours per day, and on Saturday, 4 hours only. Their proposals were eventually granted, and they were treated equally with the white workers. They had already started to work on March 26(?) 3) On March 20, Society had put forth a cha^rity performance, and the money collected was for the hospital.
