March 22 P.3 1) News from Regina: In 1912, the law that prohibited Chjinese employment of female whites had already been set up in Saskatchewan. Later , a restauranter was arrested for the offence was fined. However, he refused to pay the fine and he appealed the case to the Court in Ottawa. Unfortunately, his appeal was defeated. The law that prohibited Chinese employing white females was thus enforced, and it also spread to Manitoba and Ontario. Ambassador Yeung then negotiated the case with Ontario government, and the law was suspended. Later Yeung went to Manitoba to negotiate the case and the law was also cancelled. Finally, Yeung went to Regina and thw Premier asserted that he would propose the cancellation of restrictive law in the next provincial legislative meeting. 2)The Reading Room was officially opened in Prince Rupert. There was an election of executives. 3) The Chee Kong H.Q. in San Francisco was going to set up a general convention on April 1. There would be reps.from various places in the States and Canada. A few names of the reps, in States were posted.
