- November 22nd, Thurs. P.3 1. A petition which consisted of the signatures of Chinese ministers and merchants was handed to the police to protest against the gambling situation in ChinatowA. It was hoped that the city council would discuss the bad influence of the gambling joints, and to alter the charity law so that all illegal Chinese Clubs could be suspended from operation. 2. The head of the Canadian government bond bureau decided to sell the government bonds to the East Asian workers. In order to promote better selling, they even translated the constitution of the bonds into Chinese, and Japanese so that the East Asians could read it. 3. The Chee Kong Tong in Nanaimo held a general meeting on Nov. 17th to introduce the new members. The president gave speeches on the regulations of Freemasons and elected 3 additional executives to assist the associational affair.
