Description
November 21st, Wed. P.3 1. During the meeting of the Richmond City Council, the aldermen received a letter requesting the prohibition of East Asian workers from renting farm land. The writers hope to unite all farmers and landlords not to rent farm land to the East Asians and they hoped that the City Council would help their Anti-East Asian campaign. The City council then decided to hold a discussion for the vicinity residents to discuss the issue. 2. The immigration office in Victoria announced on Nov. 19th that the chief immigration misister had announced that those Chinese workers who left Canada after Nov. 15th 1917 had to sign an identity which specified the date they left Canada. They were required to return to Canada within one year's time no matter whther or not there was ship space. The minister asserted that the Chinese workers did not show desperation in returning and they always ignored the 1 year regulation.
