Description
September 17th, Monday P.3 1. The Chee Kong Tong in Vancouver held a meeting on September 10th to discuss the issue of building a reading room. A preliminary election for the organizers was held, and the final election would be held on 23rd. Also the meeting planned on the next annual election. But they decided that the election for the Secretary would also be held on 23rd. (The Secretarial post was usually elected before the election of other executives.) 2. The Chinese in Chilliwack were planning to build a Chinese hospital and they requested the C.B.A. to collect the hospital foundation fee for them. The C.B.A. in Vancouver thus held a meeting on September 14 to discuss whether the association should accept the request. They eventually refused and asserted that the Chinese Community in Chilliwack should be responsible for the whole organization because once the C.B.A. had accepted the request to collect the fund, other associations would ask the same favour. By that time the executives would find it difficult to collect the hospital fund even for their own association. (The letter of request was posted out for reference. It was sent by the Chilliwack Chinese Community on July 22nd) 3. The Chee Kong Tong in Chilliwack held a general meeting on September 15th to introduce the new members.
