March 14th, Wed. P.3 1. The drama performance was to be held on the 16th and 17th. There were 3 types of tickets: Honorary tickets $1 or more. 1st Class tickets $ .50 2nd Class tickets $ .25 Regular Tickets $ .10 There were already quite a lot of ticket buyers. 2. There had been a riot in the C.B.A. on Oct. 8th, 1916, and the case was brought to court. The executives "&<l -^~ \% %k~ %L- ^ (Vwjl «tc . 1 (Chief editor of the New Republic) of causing the riot. However also sued the executives. Thus, the case became more complicated and after a few months of defending in court, the executives were released while the , _, A-3"V - 6s party of I *J «%\j "^AQ, was found guilty, some were fined $75 or 3 months in prison. 4~ L\ 1\ was the only person who was detailed for further court hearings. 3. The Chee Kong Reading room held the 2nd speech day, the talks were mostly on rationalism. ( + March 15th Thursday P.3 and March 16th, Friday, P.3). 4. A gambling club was closed down by the police in Calgary. 65 Chinese were arrested. The heads were bailed out at $100 and the gamblers were bailed out at $25.
