Description
Feb. 3rd. Sat. P. 3, , - 1. There was a telegram reply on Feb. 3rd to the Overseas Chinese who wanted to exclude Ambassador Lim. The telegram was from the External Affairs Department in Peking which stated that the case would be investigated and revised by the government. Result would be sent out immediately after resolution was made. It was hoped that people would stop sending telegrams to the External Affairs Department because it might hinder the more important official business. 2. - L fl2 (an executive in the C.B.A.) announced on in a letter he sent to ^ ^ <^_ Feb. 2nd/that he had a query on the telegram sent to Peking which demanded the dismissal of Lim. He said that he had heard a rumor that ^ /£ of the C.B.A. had already sent a protest to Peking on the 5th of December, 1916 without the consent of the Chinese Community. The meeting held on the 9th of January was only a symbolic meeting to cover their mist-doing on Dec. 1916. ^& 5Lj 0^ then asserted that he was also against Lim for -4- HE? his inefficiency and for using the VA j|> calendar instead of the one of the Republic. However, he would like the C.B.A. to hold a general meeting to show that the association was just and they did not attack him due to personal offenses. 9? wanted them to prove that they only sent out the telegram legally after the meeting on Jan. 9th. P.7 3. A monthly report (December) of credits (including the $2 exit donation) and debits of the C.B.A. hospital.
