Jan. 29th, Mon. P.3 1. Ambassador Yeung announced on Jan. 12th that he had collected $800 legacy for a Chinese who died in Canada and he had also sent it back to the victim's family. Yueng asserted he had made an agreement with the Canadian government to have the Chinese Embassies in Canada collect the legacy of any single Chinese who died in Canada. The Chinese embassies were also responsible to send the money (legacy) back to the dead man's family. (Before the agreement between Chinese and Canadian governments, the legacy of a dead Chinese could not be easily claimed by the Embassy for posting back to the dead man's relatives. As a result there were inconveniences and delays. Sometimes even lawyers had to be employed in order to get back the legacy.
