- January 12th, Friday P.3 The C.B.A. announced on Jan. 10th that a Chinese was being molested and arrested by 2 plain coat policemen. Fortunately, he was released and given $25 compensation. The C.B.A. however hoped that the Chinese Community could unite and fight against external harassment. If there was anyone who was being harrassed, they should come to the C.B.A. for help. 2. The C.B.A. had resolved to dismiss Ambassador Lim and Vice Ambassador Lin. The C.B.A. asserted that Lim and Lin were followers of Yuan and they were endangering and humiliating the Chinese Community, eg. they even did not celebrate the Chinese National Day. (They were accused previously of using the calandar of Yuan in their official correspondence.) Thus, the C.B.A. regarded them as the'old officials of Yuan'( ~% & tt &L ) and they should be dismissed. They were accused of committing 10 crimes which caused humiliation and destruction to both the country and the community: a) giving troubles and obstacles to the Chinese Students. b) neglecting the legacy of the dead Chinese. &> c) delaying to return the head tax of the Chinese, e.g. the case of v/^ t£ v/ (Jan. 3rd, p.3). d) ignoring the letter of the C.B.A. e) Using the official money without giving the receipts. f) using external help to oppress the Overseas Chinese. g) demanding passports and threatening the Chinese. h) raising the registration fee of passports 3 times a month, i) bringing disgrace to the country (to China). j) taking advantages of the vegetable hawkers. The C.B.A. announced on January 10th that those who wanted to expose the defects of the 2 ambassadors should send a letter to the association for public acknowledgement.
