Description
November 6th, Monday P.3 (1) News from Toronto: Many Chinese were being employed in various companies in Ontario. The Labour Union thus became jealous and they were against the employment of Chinese workers. A labour and commercial meeting was held to exclude Chinese from working with the white girls. They were intended to pass a by-law that guaranteed no mix employment of whites and Chinese. The Chinese in Ontario became desperate and the associations in Kingston then pleaded for help from Ambassador Yeung who went to negotiate with the Ontario provincial government. He would like to foster a joint effort by the Chinese community in Kingston and Toronto to fight against such discriminatory laws.
