- Description
- October 23rd, Monday P.3 (1) The C.B.A. in Victoria sent a letter to Ambassador Lim on October 18th and asked him if he had telegraphed the copy of the protest (against denunciation of Confucianism) sent by Q'\ ~5~ 33^ C th. and ^ JZ_ ^ The C.B.A. added that ' - L and iz_ »"^ had sent out the radical protest without the consent of the executives. The president "5 stressed that the reply of the Ambassador was essential to solve the queries and misunderstandings among the Chinese communities and the rioters. (2) The Embassy replied to the letter of the C.B.A. in Victoria on October 20th regarding the issue of the riot in the C.B.A. The Embassy asserted that the C.B.A. had given a copy of protest to the Embassy. However, the Ambassador refused to telegraph it due to the radical content. Later the C.B.A. requested the Embassy to cancel the telegram and ignor the case. Even though the Embassy did not send out the telegram, there was great misunderstanding which had already led to the riot and destruction at the C.B.A. meeting on Oct. 8th. The Ambassador would like to settle any disputes between the 2 conflicting sides, and he hoped for peaceful co-existence.
