June 28th, Wednesday P. 3 Due to the appeals by the Japanese and Chinese Ambassadors, an extra-ordinary meeting was held by the Annual License Committee*to discuss the exclusion act. With the help and protest of the Ambassadors from Switzerland and the States, the City Council had to cancel the exclusion law passed on June 21st. The final decision was that all immigrants who were of British subjects or from countries with friendly treaties with the British government could be employed as hotel and restaurant employees. * Annual License Committee -- mH, , ,!\ "x vL.
