- Description
- May 2nd, Tuesday p.3 News from Ottawa: A white man went to the public health department in Ottawa and claimed that 20% of the Chinese laundrymen and restaurant owners possessed infectious diseases. He asserted that the public health department should close down any restaurant or laundry shop if the workers there were infectious. An official body checkup was thus required of the Chinese who refused and appealed to the Chinese Embassy. Ambassador Yeung then protested such act in the city council which eventually cancelled the action. However, all Chinese were asked to clean up their business area, and those who had infectious diseases should consult doctors.
