February 5th, Saturday (1) .^f- "£ji, was willing to give a free performance for the Chinese community on February 4th to show appreciation for their support of the performance. (2) A general commercial convention for the whites was held on the 3rd to discriminate against the East Asians. They intended to put East Asians out of work. They would like the mining companies on Vancouver Island to dismiss all East Asian workers, and the tailoring companies to dismiss all Chinese workers. (3) Two plain clothed policemen molested an innocent Chinese when they could not break into the house of an opium smoker.
