July 21st, Wednesday P. 2 (1) News about 'Tong bars'. When the representative ( J>k_ ^th) )" ) of the 4^1 -% ^^ went to Victoria, he was insulted and l\3 « J , _ molested by the members of the Kuominton. ^ >^ ^^_ was also Deing molested too, and two villains were arrested. (2) News from Montreal the C.B.A. in Kentreal was trying their best to abolish the restrictive law against Chinese laundrymen although the legislative meeting gave in by letting laundromats with less than 3 workers split the tax into two payments, while those with more than 4 workers still had to pay the tax immediately the C.B.A. would like all the laundrymeii to refuse payment. The C.B.A. further stressed that they had hired a lawyer to defend the case arid hoped that the laundrymeii would not be persuaded by a few destructive Chinese to pay the tax. finally, the C.B.A. added that the Chinese had to fight to the end for their own rights without giving in.
