Description
May 27th, Thursday P.I (1) More reports about the merits of the government bonds. P.3 (2) Chinese could smuggle into the States through the help of agencies e £ £r ph-^F* in Portland and f3^, v§i «^ in Vancouver. The cost per person was $>200. P.2 (3) The United Chinese Provision/Supply Company made the announcement for the 3rd recruitment of shareholders. Uue to the lower price of goods sold, the company was unable to profit arid compete with other proprietors. It was hoped that the Chinese community could help prosper the company by buying the shares, (30<? per share) and prevent the business from falling into the hands of the selfish proprietors. Finally, the company stressed that the shareholders could enjoy many privileges, e.g. the company could settle disputes for them or the company could help them fill application forms without charge. All the deeds of the company were purely for the welfare of the Chinese community.
